an exceptional Grade II* listed building

News: Secretary of State call-in for American Wharf

The Secretary of State for Communities & Local Government called in Turnstone Group's application for the mixed used development of American Wharf in Southampton, a Grade II* listed building on the English Heritage 'at risk' register, located on the Itchen riverside, and opposed by the Environment Agency on the grounds of flood risk issues.

The five day inquiry closed in March and heard evidence for our proposal to convert this exceptional, former warehouse building, into 23 residential apartments and 6 office units whilst demonstrating that the flood risk issues could be safely managed. The design incorporates a superb glass atrium which will be used to overcome the lighting constraints on the building relating to it's listed status and it's former life as a working mill.

Having worked closely with English Heritage and Southampton City Council, who both support the scheme and who have been important partners in the proposal, we are looking forward to a successful planning outcome in July 2010.
